Cortney Chammartin

Born and raised in rural, MB - Cortney Chammartin (Founder) was a competitive gymnast and dancer from ages 5-20. Cortneys vision for her studio started at a young age, knowing she wanted to create a safe space for dancers focusing on mind and body.

Cortney is experienced in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern, Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, Acro, Broadway/Song and Dance, Musical Theatre and most recently modern day Heels. She has taken home multiple awards and scholarships from competitions and conventions across North America to train in New York, Paris, and Florida to name a few.

After her years as a competitive dancer were over, she then transitioned right into teaching and fell in love with sharing her passion with her students. She has received many outstanding choreography, shout out and recognition awards from local competitions.  This is all displayed with many of her students having achieved superior results and many special awards, top placements and scholarships.

Cortney has absorbed every opportunity to learn through competitions, conventions and workshops growing up as a dancer, continually training here in Winnipeg and travels abroad to expand her own knowledge as a dancer and a teacher today. Cortney combined her love of dance and gymnastics and completed her Module 1 & 2 of the Acrobatics Arts Teaching Certification from the Professional Curriculum for Acrobatic Dance. Cortney was recently hand selected as one of 25 dancers from across the world, by Yanis Marshall (World Wide Heels Extraordinaire) to privately train with him in an advanced intimate intensive program.

Cortney formed her own Professional Dance Company for Hire in 2019, to facilitate opportunities for professional working dancers here in Manitoba and has performed and choreographed in multiple shows, music videos, galas, weddings, fundraisers and productions over the last number of years. Cortney is also a part of Project Dance Company, a well recognized hip hop dance crew that competes internationally here in Winnipeg.

Cortney continues to be a growing choreographer and teacher for her students. Not only does she love sharing her passion with her students, she also gives back to the community.  Cortney has volunteered for many Movement Centre of Manitoba’s fundraising events, leading dance-a-thons, warm ups, a special guest appearance on Global News morning show, and encourages many of her students to attend with her to give back!
